Experience the Ancient Wonders on Two Wheels

  • Route: Siem Reap Town - Angkor Wat - Angkor Thom South Gate - Ancient Wall Ride - Prasat Chrung - West Gate - Bayon Temple - Siem Reap

  • Cycling Distance: Approx. 25 - 30 kilometers (15 - 18 miles)

  • Road Condition: A thrilling mix of flat asphalt, packed red-clay trails, elevated stone-and-earth defensive walls, narrow forest single-tracks, and shaded ancient stone-paved paths.

  • Elevation Gain: Negligible (Completely flat terrain with minor natural forest slopes and a short climb onto the temple wall).

Your extraordinary day of active discovery begins at 7:30 AM. Our comfortable, air-conditioned support vehicle will pick you up from your hotel lobby and transfer you to our cycle shop. Here, you will meet your professional, English-speaking cycling guide and your high-performance mountain bike. Your guide will perform a meticulous, personalized bike fitting—carefully adjusting your seat height and handlebars—followed by a comprehensive safety briefing. Feel the solid, premium grip of your handlebars, test the responsive click of your brakes, and set off on your journey.

Our first destination is Angkor Wat, the crown jewel of the Khmer Empire. As we approach, you will watch the grand, five-domed silhouette rise dramatically above its massive, water-filled moat. We park our bikes under the shade of giant banyan trees and walk inside the temple's vast, sacred stone galleries. The morning air is still cool, smelling of old sandstone and incense. Your expert guide will lead you through the labyrinth of stone, pointing out the exquisite details of the dancing Apsaras and sharing fascinating legends of celestial battles carved into the ancient walls.

By 10:30 AM, we mount our bikes and ride north toward the breathtaking South Gate of Angkor Thom. Here, we escape the standard tourist route. We ride our mountain bikes directly up onto the ancient, eight-meter-high earthen defensive walls that once protected the royal capital. Shaded by a dense canopy of wild trees and accompanied only by the soft crunch of gravel beneath your tires and the morning calls of tropical birds, you will navigate winding dirt single-tracks far away from the noisy traffic.

Following the wall trail, we reach the quiet, secluded corner temple of Prasat Chrung. This hidden sanctuary offers a perfect, peaceful break. Standing on this ancient stone lookout, you will look down over the massive city moat, watching local villagers casting their fishing nets in the calm waters. Turn your gaze toward the horizon, and you will see thousands of towering sugar palm trees dotting the landscape, while Siem Reap's famous, one-and-only Yellow Balloon floats gracefully in the sky—a stunning, picture-perfect contrast of ancient history and modern beauty.

After recharging with fresh, sweet local fruits and chilled water in the shade, we continue our ride along the western wall. We descend at the majestic West Gate of Angkor Thom. Newly restored and opened to the public in 2023, this architectural marvel allows you to witness the spectacular, crisp results of post-restoration. The fresh sandstone blocks and beautifully reconstructed giants standing on the bridge offer a breathtaking look at how archaeological science keeps history alive.

From the West Gate, we cycle toward the absolute center of the ancient capital to stand in awe before Bayon Temple. Known globally as the "Smiling Temple," Bayon is famous for its 54 towers adorned with over 200 massive, smiling stone faces of Avalokiteshvara. As you cycle around its perimeter and walk through its dark, mysterious galleries, you will feel these enigmatic smiles gazing down upon you from every angle—a truly humbling and spiritual experience.

At 12:30 PM, we stop at a charming forest restaurant to refuel. Enjoy a healthy, delicious lunch of traditional Khmer cuisine featuring fresh local ingredients, aromatic herbs, and savory spices. It is the perfect opportunity to relax, chat, and share stories of the incredible miles you have conquered.

By 1:30 PM, we mount our bikes for a relaxed, leisurely cycle back to Siem Reap town along peaceful backroads. We arrive back at your hotel around 2:30 PM with tired legs, a happy heart, and lifelong memories of your active Cambodian adventure.
