Overview
THE GRAND CIRCLE OF INDOCHINA
Are you ready to embark on the ultimate high-altitude pilgrimage through the most formidable and breathtaking landscapes in Southeast Asia? Our 12-Day Northwest Vietnam Cycling Odyssey is a masterfully curated expedition designed for those who seek the perfect harmony of physical grit, cultural immersion, and ethereal natural beauty. This is the "Grand Loop"—a visceral crossing of the frontier that connects the lush valleys of the White Thai with the legendary "Cloud Kingdom" of Ta Xua and the soaring alpine peaks of the Hoang Lien Son range.
This journey is defined by its epic scale and profound contrasts. You will pedal from the serene stilt houses of Mai Chau into the manicured tea plateaus of Moc Chau. You will tackle the "Monster Climb" to Ta Xua, standing atop the famous Dinosaur Backbone as a sea of clouds rolls beneath your tires. The adventure intensifies as you conquer two of the "Four Great Passes" of Vietnam: the formidable Khau Pha and the mighty O Quy Ho—the highest road in Indochina. From the UNESCO-worthy rice terraces of Mu Cang Chai to the "Indochinese Alps" of Sapa, every mile reveals a new tapestry of ethnic diversity, from the Black H'mong and Red Dao to the resilient White Thai. With Golden Cycling Tours, you are supported by elite equipment and expert guides who ensure your focus remains on the rhythm of the mountains and the soul of the Northwest. This is the journey of a lifetime—raw, untamed, and absolutely unforgettable.

Tour Plan
We depart from the busy metropolis and travel to Luong Son in the southwest. Luong Son is the entry point to the breathtakingly beautiful mountainous region of northern Vietnam. From there, cyclists may go on 12-day tours of the region on rolling asphalt roads that loop past hillside rice paddies, quaint village life, and more. We genuinely take pleasure in the brief glimpse of the truly amazing and breathtaking vista of the mountains, valleys, rice paddies, and sugarcane farms. On the way, we would stop for relaxation and lunch at a nearby restaurant.
Following lunch, we make a quick transfer to the foot of Thung Khe Pass, where we start riding on a single-track trail and wind through slender ravine trails that wind around craggy mountain ranges and mountainside.
Enjoying breathtaking views of Thai and Muong villages shaded by canopies and abundant vegetation, you make a lasting impression on young schoolchildren and cowboys who say hello as they head back to their homes. We stop for a quick snack or Kodak moment before making our way down to Mai Chau village. We ride to Mai Chau Ecolodge for the night after arriving in Mai Chau late in the afternoon. Having dinner and a shower in the hotel.
