Overview
While the scenery fluctuates throughout the ride, there is one constant natural sight: waterfalls. You will see many on the tour but the very best are those of Khan Phapeng, where they spectacularly split the Mekong River. After grabbing all the photos you can, this day of riding switches gears as the scent of coffee from the Bolaven Plateau wafts by. It helps focus your mind as you pedal onwards through the plantations towards your hotel for a coffee fix. Your final days of riding are spent taking in what makes Laos such a special country – the people. Pedaling your way through quieter villages you can admire the variety of architectural influences and at the same time observe how the Lao people live. It marks a poignant way to end a stunning ride that will leave you transfixed by the beautiful country that is Laos.

Tour Plan
Meeting at the Laos border at Chong Mek before finding the starting point of the ride. Your ride begins on some smooth roads and once those feet touch the pedals, you will feel a wave of elation sweep through as you glide alongside the Mekong River and through the former colonial town of Champasak. While the gentle waters will soothe your soul you will push onwards toward Wat Phu, home to a Khmer Hindu temple complex that harks back to the 5th century. It marks a perfect point for exploration and to wolf down a picnic lunch. With your stomach satisfied and ample rest time to let your food digest, you will hop back on the bike to head to Champasak where a night .
I’ve cycled in many places, but Laos with Golden Cycling Tours was something special. Every stop was carefully planned, ensuring we got the best views and meaningful cultural interactions. Their service was professional yet warm, making me feel truly welcomed!
