Overview

The 22-Day Siem Reap to Hanoi Cycling Expedition is the definitive odyssey for those who seek to experience the "Real Indochina" from the unique perspective of a bicycle saddle. Spanning two nations and thousands of kilometers, this journey is a grand narrative of history, nature, and human resilience. We begin in the shadow of the world’s greatest archaeological marvel—Angkor Wat—and conclude in the thousand-year-old capital of Hanoi, traversing a kaleidoscopic landscape that changes with every pedal stroke.

This tour is meticulously designed to bridge the gap between the ancient Khmer Empire and the vibrant modernization of Vietnam. Your adventure starts with the hidden temples of Kampong Thom before heading to the bustling capital of Phnom Penh. From there, we navigate the "Islands of the Mekong" and cross into the verdant Mekong Delta of Vietnam via speedboat. You will cycle along narrow canal paths, through fruit orchards, and across rustic ferries in Chau Doc, Long Xuyen, and Can Tho, experiencing the legendary hospitality of the Vietnamese "Water World."

The middle leg of our expedition is a masterclass in variety. After a rest in Saigon, we challenge our legs with the climb to the "City of Eternal Spring," Dalat, followed by a legendary descent to the turquoise bays of Nha Trang. We follow the rhythmic waves of the Central Coast through Quy Nhon and Hoi An, conquering the Hai Van Pass and exploring the imperial grace of Hue. The final chapter takes us off the beaten path and onto the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. We navigate the limestone karsts of Phong Nha, cycle through the remote provinces of Vinh and Thai Hoa, and find serenity in the stilt-house valley of Mai Chau before our triumphant arrival in Hanoi. This is more than a tour—it is a life-changing 22-day marathon of discovery.

Starting with an early pickup from your hotel, we have a two-and-a-half-hour drive to reach Kampong Thom. This is the neighboring province to Siem Reap. After a bike fitting, we set off on a ride north of the town to find the sprawling complex of pre-Angkorian temples known as Sambor Prei Kuk. These ruins date back as far as the 7th century and are remarkably intact for their age. The leafy surroundings and absence of tourists make this a really special experience. After we see out the heat of the day in the shade, we return to Kampong Thom by a different route and enjoy a tasty, authentic meal.
